Coreluxe GC2388 - Acrylic solid surface - Satin ivory quartz look

An ivory white with a quartz-style scatter of colour.

Sahara Ivory has a soft ivory-white ground with small flecks of beige, grey and brown spread across it - the look people usually buy quartz for, in a 19mm solid surface board.

Sahara Ivory is a white quartz effect solid surface worktop: Coreluxe decor GC2388, a 19mm acrylic board with an ivory white base, scattered beige and grey flecks and a satin finish. It is non-porous and waterproof, and both the 3000 x 650mm worktop and the 2000 x 920mm breakfast bar are GBP 498 inc VAT.

Square edges, ready to finish

The board is supplied with unfinished square edges. Your fitter sands each visible edge to the same satin as the top, so the flecked pattern carries round the front edge.

Sahara Ivory in your kitchen

Look closely at Sahara Ivory and you see the quartz-style detail: irregular flecks in sand, warm grey and a little brown, spaced out on an ivory ground. From a step back it reads as a warm white rather than a speckle. It sits between the crisp Arctic White and the sandy Sahara Shell, and it is the white to choose when the rest of the room is cream, stone or natural wood rather than brilliant white.

Works with: cream or putty painted doors, oak or walnut, aged brass, and stone-coloured floor tiles. It softens a dark kitchen without the starkness of a pure white. The Sahara Ivory upstand is the same decor as the top.

Fitting a Sahara Ivory solid surface worktop

Fit Sahara Ivory as you would any acrylic solid surface: cut with a fine-tooth or solid surface blade, finish every cut with a router, and drill cut-out corners rather than cutting them square. Joints are glued with the White adhesive, clamped, and sanded level. A flecked decor is forgiving at the joint, but plan joints away from the sink and hob.

Keeping Sahara Ivory looking new

Day to day, a damp microfibre cloth is enough for Sahara Ivory; mild detergent lifts grease. A solid surface cleaner, buffed dry, keeps the satin sheen even. Flush any spill of acetone, oven cleaner or drain cleaner with water straight away, and use a hot pad under pans.

An honest verdict on Sahara Ivory

Is a white quartz effect solid surface a good alternative to quartz? For the look, yes: you get the flecked white surface, and lengths are glued with colour-matched adhesive and sanded flush. Quartz is a harder, stone-based surface; solid surface scratches more easily, but a minor scratch can be worked out rather than lived with. Choose Sahara Ivory if a warm white with detail matters more to you than stone hardness.

What people ask before buying Sahara Ivory

Is Sahara Ivory white or cream?

It is an ivory white: a warm white ground with beige, grey and brown flecks. It looks white in most kitchens, but warmer than the plain Arctic White.

What does a Sahara Ivory worktop cost?

The 3000 x 650 x 19mm worktop is GBP 498 inc VAT, the 2000 x 920mm breakfast bar GBP 498 and the 3000 x 100 x 10mm upstand GBP 95. Delivery is GBP 36 per order however many boards.

Is Sahara Ivory quartz?

No. It is a quartz effect acrylic solid surface. It has the flecked look of quartz but is a different material, made from natural minerals and acrylic resins, and joined with adhesive.

Which adhesive suits Sahara Ivory?

The White solid surface joint adhesive 50ml, applied with the solid surface applicator.

Can a scratch be repaired on Sahara Ivory?

A light scratch on the satin surface can be worked out with a wet sponge and a mild abrasive cleaner. Deep scratches, chips and burns are a job for a solid surface fabricator.
