Whispering Grey is a soft, light grey with a fine granite-style speckle - grey enough to give contrast against white units, light enough not to darken the room.
Whispering Grey is a grey granite effect solid surface worktop: Coreluxe decor GC4412, a 19mm acrylic board in a light, warm grey with a fine speckle and a satin finish. It is non-porous and waterproof and joins with Light Grey adhesive. Worktop 3000 x 650mm and breakfast bar 2000 x 920mm are GBP 498 each inc VAT.
Whispering Grey is supplied with square, unfinished edges and a protective film. Keep the film on while cutting, then peel it in one movement so no adhesive marks are left.
The grey in Whispering Grey is pale and slightly warm, never cold or blue, and the fine speckle - finer than a real granite - stops it looking flat. It gives a white kitchen definition without the weight of a dark worktop, and it keeps a grey kitchen from going gloomy. Its speckle also helps it hide crumbs and water marks better than a plain colour.
Works with: white or light grey handleless doors, dusky blue, charcoal accents, and chrome or black fittings. It suits a modern kitchen that wants a stone look without stone. The Whispering Grey upstand finishes the wall joint.

Join Whispering Grey with the Light Grey solid surface adhesive, matched to this decor. Cut with a fine-tooth or solid surface blade and finish with a router, making cuts in several shallow passes so the material does not overheat. Any breakfast bar overhang beyond 150mm needs a steel plate or plywood support underneath.
A damp cloth with mild detergent handles daily cleaning; dry with a soft cloth. On the satin finish a light circular scrub with a wet sponge and a little abrasive cleaner lifts a stubborn mark - gently, so the sheen stays even. Never cut straight on the surface.
Is grey solid surface a good worktop? For a modern kitchen it is one of the most practical colours there is: it shows less than white, brightens more than black, and the joins are hard to spot. Whispering Grey is light enough to work in a small room. As with every solid surface, use a trivet for hot pans and have it fitted by someone who has the tools.
