Ice Onyx borrows the fine, icy translucence of onyx - pale veining in a bright white ground - and puts it on a slab you can cut on site and fit without a stone mason.
Ice Onyx is Formica Aria decor F7408: a bright white onyx-effect compact laminate worktop with a fine stone pattern and a semi gloss finish, pressed as a single solid slab in 12mm or 20mm with a square edge. It is waterproof through its core and guaranteed for 10 years by the manufacturer. The 3.6m x 650 x 12mm worktop is GBP 397 inc VAT.
Formica press Aria as one solid compact laminate slab with the decor on both faces and the colour through the thickness. That is what allows the square edge, the exposed sink cut-out and the thin 12mm profile.
Ice Onyx is the coolest white in the range: a clean white ground with delicate, pale grey veins that look lit from within, closer to onyx than to marble. The semi gloss finish suits it - a little reflection is what makes the stone effect convincing. It photographs brightly and works hard in a kitchen without much natural light.
Works with: white gloss or matt doors for a light, hotel-style kitchen, deep blue or black for contrast, or brass hardware to warm it up. The Ice Onyx upstand and splashback keep the veining running behind the hob and sink instead of stopping at the wall.

The slab cuts with a compact laminate blade and the edge is finished with a router so the veining shows cleanly on the square edge. Joints use a jointing kit and colour-matched sealant, and an undermount sink is straightforward because the slab is waterproof through - the cut-out is finished and sealed, not edged. Cut to size can be quoted on request.
Wipe with warm water and a soft cloth; washing-up liquid for grease. Keep abrasives, cream cleaners and standing bleach away from a semi gloss stone effect - they dull the sheen that makes it work. Trivet under pans, board under knives.
Is Ice Onyx any good? If the brief is a bright, stone-look white kitchen without a stone budget, it is hard to argue with: a solid waterproof slab, a square edge, undermount-sink ready, ten-year guarantee. The honest caveats are the usual ones for compact laminate - correct tooling, correct support, and no sanding out deep damage.

Yes. Compact laminate is solid and waterproof through its core, so the sink opening is cut, finished and sealed without the swelling risk a chipboard-cored worktop has.
