Polar White Monolith is Polar White with a textured matt surface instead of a sheen. It hides the smears and fingerprints a gloss white shows, and it gives a plain colour some depth under kitchen lighting.
Polar White Monolith is Formica Aria decor F2255ML in a textured finish: a matt white compact laminate worktop pressed as a single solid slab, 12mm or 20mm thick, square-edged and waterproof through its core, with a 10-year manufacturer guarantee. The 3.6m x 650 x 12mm worktop is GBP 397 inc VAT.
Aria is one piece of compact laminate, decorated on both faces, not a laminate glued to a board. Cut it and the inside is the same white as the top - which is what lets the edges stay square and a sink sit underneath.
The Monolith texture is the difference: a fine, even surface grain that scatters light rather than reflecting it, so the white stays soft under downlights and never looks plasticky. Side by side with the semi gloss Polar White it is the quieter of the two. It also forgives the daily smears a gloss white kitchen has to be wiped for, which is why it tends to be chosen for family kitchens.
Works with: matt handleless doors in white or grey for a seamless textured scheme, black doors for a sharp monochrome kitchen, or oak for warmth. Choose the Monolith upstand and splashback rather than the semi gloss ones so the texture is continuous up the wall.

Cut it with a compact laminate blade and finish the edge with a router - the textured face chips if it is rushed with the wrong tooling. Lengths join with a jointing kit and bolts, sealed with a colour-matched sealant. The slab takes an undermount sink because it is waterproof right through, and the exposed cut edge is sealed rather than edged. Cutting to size is worth asking us about.
A textured matt white asks for slightly different care from a gloss one: wipe with warm water and a soft cloth in the direction of the grain, and rinse cleaner off rather than letting it dry into the texture. No scourers, no cream cleaners, no bleach left to sit. Boards for chopping, trivets for pans.
Is it any good? If you want a white kitchen but dread the smears, Polar White Monolith is the version of a white worktop that lives with real use. It is a solid, waterproof, square-edged slab with a ten-year guarantee at a fraction of what a matt white quartz costs. Its limits are the same as any compact laminate: it wants proper support, proper tooling and a board for the knives.

It shows less, not more - the texture scatters light so smears and fingerprints are far less visible than on gloss. It does hold dried-on cleaner if you do not rinse, so wipe with water after cleaning.
Yes, on a supported run. Compact laminate is dense and rigid at 12mm, which is why the thin square-edged look exists at all. For a wide island overhang or a very long unsupported span choose the 20mm.
With a compact laminate jointing kit: bolts underneath pull the joint tight and a colour-matched sealant closes it. The joint shows as a fine white line, because the slab is white all the way through.
Yes. The slab is solid and non-porous, so the cut edge of the sink opening is finished and sealed rather than protected by an edging strip. That is one of the main reasons to choose compact laminate over standard laminate.
