Calacatta is the marble people picture when they say marble - bright white with bold, sweeping grey veins. This is that pattern on a solid compact laminate slab that arrives as a board and needs no template.
Calacatta Marble is Formica Aria decor F3460: a bright white compact laminate worktop with bold grey Calacatta-style veining and a semi gloss finish, pressed as one solid slab in 12mm or 20mm with a square edge. Waterproof through the core and guaranteed for 10 years. The 3.6m x 650 x 12mm worktop is GBP 397 inc VAT.
Aria is a single compact laminate slab with the decor on both faces and the pattern in the full thickness. Square edges and undermount sinks are possible because there is no core to protect.
Calacatta Marble is the statement decor of the Aria whites: a clean white ground crossed by broad grey veins with the occasional warmer thread, high in contrast and best given room to show. It makes an island the centre of a kitchen, and on a long run the veining gives the eye somewhere to travel. The semi gloss finish gives it the sheen of polished stone.
Works with: navy, black or dark green doors that let the white sing, brass or black taps, and pale oak or white where you want the veining to be the only pattern in the room. The Calacatta upstand and splashback continue the veins up the wall.

A bold vein needs a considered joint: a fitter will plan where two lengths meet so the pattern reads naturally, then join with a compact laminate jointing kit and colour-matched sealant. The slab cuts with a compact laminate blade and the square edge is router-finished - the veining runs through, so the edge is the same Calacatta as the top. Undermount sinks are fine on a waterproof solid slab. Ask for a cut-to-size quote when you order.
Wipe with warm water and a soft cloth; the surface is non-porous, so wine and lemon do not stain it the way they stain real Calacatta. Keep scourers, cream cleaners and standing bleach off the semi gloss. Trivets and chopping boards as with any premium surface.
Is Calacatta Marble compact laminate any good? For the look, unquestionably - it is the pattern people pay thousands for in stone, on a solid, waterproof, square-edged slab with a ten-year guarantee. The honest trade-offs: a bold pattern asks for a thoughtfully placed joint, the slab wants proper support and the right tooling, and a deep chip is not something you polish out.
Bold - broad grey veins on a bright white ground, high contrast, the classic Calacatta look. If you want marble that whispers rather than announces itself, Aura Marble is the softer option in the same range.

Veins are positioned rather than matched: a fitter places the joint where the pattern reads naturally. The seam itself is fine because the decor runs through the slab and the joint is sealed with a colour-matched sealant.
On a supported island, yes, and the thin edge suits the modern marble look. For a long overhang or a heavier slab appearance choose the 20mm.
Yes. The slab is solid and waterproof through its core; the cut-out is finished and sealed, and Belfast sinks are fitted the same way.
