Coreluxe Traditional Terrazzo - Acrylic solid surface - Satin terrazzo look

Terrazzo character in a slim 19mm worktop.

Traditional Terrazzo scatters black, grey and white chips across a pale ground - the classic terrazzo look - in a 19mm acrylic solid surface board with a satin finish.

Traditional Terrazzo is a terrazzo effect solid surface worktop from Coreluxe: a 19mm acrylic board with contrasting black, grey and white chips on a pale ground and a satin finish, non-porous and waterproof. The 3000 x 650mm worktop and the 2000 x 960mm breakfast bar are GBP 574 each inc VAT; the matching upstand is GBP 155.

Square edges, ready to finish

Traditional Terrazzo is supplied with square, unfinished edges. Because its chips are large, a joint is easier to spot than on a fine decor, so joints are best placed away from the eye line.

Traditional Terrazzo in your kitchen

This is the boldest decor in the range: a confident scatter of chips in black, charcoal, mid grey and white on a light ground, close to a traditional cast terrazzo floor. It brings pattern and personality to a kitchen with plain doors, and it works as a statement island while the wall runs stay quiet.

Works with: plain white, black or deep green flat doors, oak, and simple black or brass handles. Let the worktop carry the pattern and keep splashbacks plain. The matching Traditional Terrazzo upstand continues the chips up the wall.

Fitting a Traditional Terrazzo solid surface worktop

Solid surface fitting guidance warns that decors with large coloured particles make an inconspicuous joint difficult, and terrazzo is exactly that. Plan joints where they will be seen least, use a mitre at corners, and glue with the Rice solid surface adhesive. Otherwise cut and finish as for any solid surface: fine-tooth blade, router-finished edges, radius corners.

Keeping Traditional Terrazzo looking new

The busy chip pattern hides crumbs and light marks well. Clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent, and use a solid surface cleaner now and then to keep the satin sheen even. Trivets for hot pans, a board for knives, and keep harsh solvents off it.

An honest verdict on Traditional Terrazzo

Is a terrazzo worktop practical? In solid surface, very: the busy chip pattern hides daily marks, the surface is waterproof and non-porous, and the joints are glued rather than grouted. The considerations are the pattern itself - it is a bold choice - and the joints, which need more planning than on a plain decor. It is the dearest decor in the range.

What people ask before buying Traditional Terrazzo

Is Traditional Terrazzo real terrazzo?

No. Real terrazzo is chips of stone set in cement or resin. This is an acrylic solid surface with a terrazzo pattern, so it is non-porous and joined with adhesive.

How much is a terrazzo solid surface worktop?

The 3000 x 650 x 19mm worktop is GBP 574 inc VAT and the 2000 x 960mm breakfast bar GBP 574. The 3000 x 100 x 10mm upstand is GBP 155.

Why is the terrazzo breakfast bar 960mm wide?

That is the size our supplier lists for this decor: 2000 x 960 x 19mm. The other decors' breakfast bars are 920mm wide.

Will the joints show on a terrazzo worktop?

More than on a fine decor, because the chips are large. Place joints away from the main view, use mitres at corners and dry fit before gluing with the Rice adhesive.

What colours go with a terrazzo worktop?

Plain doors in white, black or deep green, with oak or simple black handles. Let the terrazzo be the pattern in the room.
