Coreluxe Carrara Marble - Acrylic solid surface - Matt marble look

The look of Carrara marble, without the stone.

Carrara Marble is inspired by the classic Italian stone: a pale, cool white ground with fine grey hairline veining, in a matt finish and a 19mm solid surface board that is waterproof right through.

The Coreluxe Carrara Marble is a Carrara marble effect solid surface worktop: a 19mm acrylic board in pale white with fine grey hairline veining and a matt finish, non-porous and waterproof. The 3000 x 650mm worktop and the 2000 x 920mm breakfast bar are GBP 518 each inc VAT, with a 12mm matching upstand at GBP 95.

Square edges, ready to finish

The board is supplied with unfinished square edges and no chamfer. On a veined decor, plan where the joints fall before cutting - a mitred joint helps the veining continue round a corner.

Carrara Marble in your kitchen

Carrara Marble is a quiet marble look: short, fine grey hairline veins scattered over a pale, cool white ground, with none of the bold strokes of a Calacatta. The matt finish keeps it understated and modern. It is the decor for anyone who wants a marble kitchen but not the staining and sealing that come with real marble.

Works with: navy, deep green or charcoal doors, brass or gold handles, and herringbone floors for a classic look; white gloss doors for a brighter, modern one. The 12mm Carrara Marble upstand continues the veining up the wall.

Fitting a Carrara Marble solid surface worktop

Veined decors need the most planning at the joints. Solid surface fitting guidance is clear that marble-look patterns make a truly invisible joint difficult, so the answer is a mitre at corners and a careful dry fit before gluing with the Rice adhesive. Cut with a fine-tooth blade, finish with a router, and keep sink cut-outs 75mm clear of any joint.

Keeping Carrara Marble looking new

Unlike real marble, Carrara Marble solid surface needs no sealing: it is non-porous, so spills stay on the surface rather than soaking in. Wipe up red wine and strong colours promptly. Clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent. On this matt finish a gentle scrub with a wet sponge and mild abrasive cleaner lifts a stubborn mark. Use a trivet for hot pans.

An honest verdict on Carrara Marble

Is a Carrara marble effect worktop a good alternative to real marble? For most kitchens, yes: it gives the marble look without the porosity and sealing of real marble, and lengths are glued and sanded flush rather than grouted. The honest limits: the veining is a pattern, so joints need planning, and solid surface is softer than stone - use a board for knives and a trivet for pans.

What people ask before buying Carrara Marble

Is Carrara Marble solid surface real marble?

No. It is an acrylic solid surface made to look like Carrara marble. Unlike marble it is non-porous, so it does not need sealing.

How much does a Carrara marble effect worktop cost?

The 3000 x 650 x 19mm worktop is GBP 518 inc VAT, the 2000 x 920mm breakfast bar GBP 518 and the 2995 x 100 x 12mm upstand GBP 95. Delivery is GBP 36 per order.

Can the veining match across a joint?

Not perfectly - it is a pattern, so no two board ends are identical. A mitred joint at corners and a careful dry fit before gluing give the best result.

Which adhesive matches Carrara Marble?

The Rice solid surface joint adhesive 50ml, applied with the solid surface applicator.

Does a marble effect solid surface stain?

It is non-porous, so spills stay on the surface rather than soaking in. Wipe up strong colours such as red wine or turmeric promptly; a stubborn mark lifts with a wet sponge and a mild abrasive cleaner. Do not leave acetone or oven cleaner on it.
