Smoke Onyx is a mid grey with soft, smoky veining that moves across the slab like onyx held to the light. It gives a grey kitchen depth without the flat look of a plain grey laminate.
Smoke Onyx is Formica Aria decor F3710: a smoky grey onyx-effect compact laminate worktop with soft veining and a semi gloss finish, made as one solid slab in 12mm or 20mm with a square edge. Waterproof through the core and guaranteed for 10 years by the manufacturer. The 3.6m x 650 x 12mm worktop is GBP 397 inc VAT.
A single compact laminate slab, decorated on both faces, with the grey carried through the full thickness. No chipboard core means square edges, exposed sink cut-outs and a genuinely waterproof worktop.
Smoke Onyx sits in the middle of the greys: darker than a concrete effect, lighter than graphite, with veins that read as drifting smoke rather than hard lines. The semi gloss finish gives it the low reflection of polished stone and helps the veining show under lighting. It is a grey that flatters both warm and cool cabinet colours, which is why it is easy to place.
Works with: white or cream doors for contrast, mid-grey handleless units for a tonal scheme, or walnut where you want warmth against the grey. The Smoke Onyx upstand and 6mm splashback keep the veining running behind the hob and sink.

Cut with a compact laminate blade, finish the square edge with a router, and the veining shows on the edge exactly as on the top - no edging strip. Joints use a compact laminate jointing kit and colour-matched sealant; a fitter will place the joint where the smoke reads naturally. Undermount sinks are straightforward on a slab that is waterproof through. Talk to us first if you would rather we cut it.
Warm water and a soft cloth keep Smoke Onyx clean; washing-up liquid for grease. The surface is non-porous, so it does not need sealing and does not stain the way real stone can. Avoid scourers, cream cleaners and standing bleach on the semi gloss. Trivet for pans, board for knives.
Is Smoke Onyx any good? For a grey kitchen that wants stone character without stone cost, yes: a solid, waterproof, square-edged slab with veining that hides everyday marks and a ten-year guarantee. The limits are the ones that come with compact laminate - proper support, proper tooling, and no polishing out of deep damage.
