Real concrete worktops are cast in place, weigh a great deal and need sealing every year. Elemental Concrete gives you the mottled grey surface on a 12mm slab that arrives as a board.
Elemental Concrete is Formica Aria decor F8830: a mid grey concrete-effect compact laminate worktop in a textured matt finish, made as one solid slab in 12mm or 20mm with a square edge. It is waterproof through its core and carries a 10-year manufacturer guarantee. The 3.6m x 650 x 12mm worktop is GBP 397 inc VAT.
Aria is one solid compact laminate slab with the decor on both faces and the grey through the thickness. That is what makes the square edge, the thin profile and the undermount sink possible.
Elemental Concrete is a mid grey with the soft mottling and faint trowel marks of polished concrete, and no veining at all. The textured matt finish gives it the slightly chalky feel of the real thing. It is an industrial look that has become a warm one when paired with timber, and because there is no pattern to align it is one of the easiest decors to joint on a long or L-shaped run.
Works with: oak or walnut cabinetry for the classic concrete-and-wood kitchen, matt black doors for an industrial scheme, or white for a cleaner loft look. The Elemental Concrete upstand and splashback carry the concrete up the wall.

No pattern to match means the joint can go wherever the layout needs it. Cut with a compact laminate blade, router-finish the square edge - the grey runs through, so the edge is concrete too - and join with a compact laminate jointing kit and colour-matched sealant. Undermount sinks are fine: the slab is waterproof through and the cut-out is finished and sealed. Enquire about cut to size when you order.
Unlike cast concrete, it never needs sealing: the surface is non-porous. Wipe with warm water and a soft cloth and rinse so cleaner does not dry in the texture. No scourers, cream cleaners or standing bleach. Trivet under pans, board under knives.
Is Elemental Concrete any good? If you want the concrete look, it is the practical way to get it: the surface is convincing, there is nothing to seal or crack, the slab is solid and waterproof with a square edge and a ten-year guarantee, and it weighs a fraction of the real thing. It remains compact laminate - support it, use the right tooling, and do not expect to grind out deep damage.
