Chip a black laminate and it shows a pale core. Nero Grafite is black through the whole slab, so the edge, the sink cut-out and the odd knock all stay black - and it is the most affordable way into the range.
Nero Grafite is Formica Aria decor F9485: a deep black compact laminate worktop with a fine graphite grain and a semi gloss finish, made as one solid slab in 12mm or 20mm with a square edge. Waterproof through the core, 10-year manufacturer guarantee. The 3.6m x 650 x 12mm worktop is GBP 268 inc VAT.

Nero Grafite is a true black lifted by a very fine graphite grain, which stops it looking like a flat sheet of plastic and gives the semi gloss finish something to catch. It is the decor for a dark, dramatic kitchen, and it makes white or timber cabinets look sharper by contrast. Black shows dust and water spots more than grey does, so it suits people who wipe down as they go.
Works with: white handleless or shaker doors for a monochrome kitchen, oak or walnut for warmth against the black, and brass or copper taps. The Nero Grafite upstand and splashback keep the black continuous behind the hob.

Cut with a compact laminate blade and router-finish the square edge: the slab is black through, so the edge needs no strip and stays black if it is knocked. Join with a compact laminate jointing kit and black colour-matched sealant. Undermount sinks are fine on a waterproof solid slab. Ask us whether we can cut it for you.
Black shows water spots and dust, so the trick is a soft dry cloth after wiping. Warm water and washing-up liquid for grease; no scourers, cream cleaners or standing bleach, which dull a semi gloss black. Trivet under pans, board under knives.
Is Nero Grafite any good? As the entry price into solid compact laminate it is excellent value: a black slab that is black through, waterproof, square-edged and guaranteed for ten years, for less than the marble decors. Be honest with yourself about black - it shows spots and dust - and remember it is compact laminate: right tooling, proper support, no sanding out deep damage.

Water spots and dust show more on black than on grey; fingerprints show less on this semi gloss than on a high gloss. A quick wipe and a dry cloth keep it clean.
