Black Radiators
Factory powder coated and oven cured, not a repaint over a white radiator.
The colour is even inside the columns and around the welds, which is the difference you notice a year in. In daylight the finish reads close to charcoal; under lamplight it goes properly black.
There are 29 sizes across two ranges: our own DUSC Columns in a black powder coat, and the Kartell K-Rad Laser Klassic in RAL 9004 signal black. Against brass, oak and a period fireplace it reads traditional; against white plaster or concrete it reads modern.

Measure your pipe centres first. Pipe centres are the distance between your existing valve tails. Match that number and the new radiator goes straight onto the pipework you already have, with no lifted floorboards and no re-piping. It is on every DUSC Columns listing.

Choosing a size
2 Column68–92mm
The slimmest black option, and the one that suits a hallway or the narrow strip beside a door. Verticals start at 245mm wide.
3 Column100–118mm
The all-rounder. Noticeably more heat than a 2 column of the same height and width, for about 25mm more wall.
4 Column140–160mm
The most output available in black, in a 600mm high horizontal up to 1190mm wide.
Horizontal or vertical600 or 1800mm
Horizontals go under a window or along a low wall. Verticals stand 1800mm tall for hallways and feature walls.
What size for my room
Up to 8 sq msmall bedroom, study
Needs roughly 3,100 to 4,200 BTU.
Black 3 column 600 x 830mm — 3,653 BTU. The standard 600mm height, 830mm across.
Black 2 column vertical 1800 x 425mm — 3,806 BTU. Same output from 425mm of wall. The hallway answer.
8 to 14 sq mdouble bedroom, dining room
Needs roughly 5,500 to 7,300 BTU.
Black 3 column 600 x 1370mm — 6,088 BTU. The highest output in the black range, and the widest at 1370mm.
Over 14 sq mliving room, open plan
Needs roughly more than 7,300 BTU.
Black 3 column 600 x 1370mm — 6,088 BTU. No single black radiator covers a room this size on its own, so this is a two-radiator job. Two of these will heat around 23 sq m and spread the heat more evenly than one ever would.
Common questions
Is the finish painted on or baked in?
Baked in. Every radiator here is powder coated and oven cured at the factory before it is packed, which is why the colour is even inside the columns and around the welds. It is not a spray job over a white radiator and should not need retouching.
Does black heat a room as well as white?
Yes. Colour makes no practical difference to output on a modern steel radiator, because almost all of the heat reaches the room by convection rather than radiation. The published figures apply whichever finish you choose.
Which valves suit black radiators?
Black or antique brass are the usual choices and both are in radiator valves and accessories. Chrome works but tends to draw the eye against a matt finish. Whichever you pick, allow around 90mm on top of the radiator width for the valve bodies.
Can I keep my existing pipework?
In most cases yes. Measure centre to centre across your current valves and match that pipe centres figure on the listing. Sizes across the full column range cover most standard spacings, so if the black size you want does not match, a different width often will.
