Kitchen Worktops UK
Kitchen worktops in three materials: solid timber under our own De Terra label, Formica high-pressure laminate, and FENIX NTM solid surface. Boards run up to 4 metres long, in worktop, breakfast bar, upstand and splashback formats, with thicknesses from 12mm to 80mm. The choice comes down to how the surface behaves in use rather than how it looks, so the comparison below is worth two minutes before you order.

Common questions
Solid wood, laminate or solid surface — which should I choose?
Solid timber is the warmest and can be sanded back and re-oiled for decades, but it moves with humidity and needs looking after. Laminate is the cheapest and the most forgiving day to day. FENIX NTM is the technical one — ultra matt, anti-fingerprint, and micro-scratches can be healed out with a domestic iron.
Do solid wood worktops need oiling before use?
Yes, and it matters. De Terra boards arrive sanded and un-oiled, so they need several coats before they meet water. Oil the underside and all cut edges as well as the top, and keep the end grain around a sink cut-out well oiled — that is where an unfinished timber worktop fails first.
What sizes do the worktops come in?
Lengths of 1210, 1800, 2000, 3000, 3500 and 4000mm, and widths from 600mm through 635, 670, 720 and 900mm up to 960mm for a breakfast bar. Thicknesses run from a 12mm FENIX panel to an 80mm timber block. Upstands and splashbacks come in matching finishes, so a run can be finished in one material.
Can I fit an undermount sink?
Yes with FENIX NTM, which is undermount ready and has through-body colour, so a cut edge shows the same shade rather than a core. Formica laminate takes either an undermount or a top-mount sink. In solid timber, seal the cut-out edges thoroughly — the exposed end grain is the vulnerable part.
How much is delivery on a worktop?
Worktops go out on our 2 Man Delivery Service at a flat £40 to UK mainland, whatever the order value — a 4 metre board is not a one-person lift, so it does not travel on the standard service. Collection from our Burnley trade counter is free if you can transport it yourself.
What guarantee do they carry?
Formica and FENIX NTM both carry a ten year manufacturer guarantee. Cover on the solid timber ranges is stated on each product page. If you want to check a size, a thickness or an edge profile before ordering, call 01282 429061 and we will go through it.
