Storm Monolith with Monolith finish — deep, dramatic, naturally bold

The Storm Monolith decor brings a dramatic dark stone-inspired finish into contemporary kitchen spaces. With its deep, moody tones and subtle tactile texture, this design adds bold sophistication to any kitchen — from modern industrial to contemporary luxury, from urban chic to dramatic elegance[citation:2][citation:4].

Monolith is a refined textured finish that delivers a sleek, matte surface with a subtle stone-like feel — never glossy or distracting. It resists scratches, stains, and heat, making it ideal for demanding kitchen environments[citation:2][citation:4]. It works across full worktops, breakfast bars, islands, and matching upstands or splashbacks for a perfectly coordinated kitchen.

Matching upstands and splashbacks available

All Formica Originals worktop designs can be continued onto your walls with coordinated upstands and splashbacks — protecting walls while creating a refined, seamless finish[citation:2][citation:3].

Non-Porous & Hygienic
Liquids cannot penetrate the surface. Spills wipe away instantly — no staining, no bacteria trap, no sealing required.
Installation Flexibility
HPL can be cut and installed on-site using standard woodworking tools. Works with undermount or top-mount sinks.

A worktop that stays beautiful with very little effort.

Because Formica HPL is non-porous and water-resistant, daily cleaning is straightforward. No sealing, no special oils, no re-finishing[citation:2].

Daily Cleaning

Wipe with a soft cloth, warm water, and a mild detergent or non-abrasive cleaner[citation:2].

Spillages

Wipe immediately — liquids cannot penetrate the laminate surface. Coffee, wine, and oil will not leave permanent stains.

What to avoid

Abrasive pads, bleach, solvent-based cleaners, or undiluted bleach. These can permanently damage the laminate finish[citation:2].

Heat protection

Always use a trivet or heat mat under hot pans. Direct sustained heat can affect the surface over time.

Cutting

Always use a chopping board. Knives will scratch any worktop surface, including HPL.

On-site cutting

Can be cut with standard woodworking tools. Finished edges are factory-sealed; field-cut edges should be sealed with matching edge sealant.

Monolith is a sleek, matte finish with a subtle stone-like texture. It delivers a natural stone feel without the maintenance, combining durability with a refined aesthetic[citation:2][citation:4].

Yes. The 22mm thick HPL construction provides good support for undermount sink installations. We recommend professional installation for any sink or hob cutout.

No. Formica HPL is non-porous and factory-sealed. Unlike timber or composite stone, it never requires sealing, oiling, or re-finishing.

Yes. Sizes up to 3500 × 900 × 22mm are available with two finished long edges and one finished short edge — ideal for peninsulas, breakfast bars, and kitchen islands[citation:3][citation:4].

Yes — all worktop designs in the Formica Originals Worktop Collection are also available as matching upstands and splashbacks. This creates a perfectly coordinated, joint-free look from worktop to wall[citation:2][citation:3].

Storm Monolith worktops are tested to 180°C — boiling water and cooking splashes will do no harm to the surface[citation:2]. However, we still recommend using a trivet under hot pans.

Yes. Storm Monolith features Formica's high-definition print technology combined with the Monolith finish, creating an authentic, natural-looking stone finish with deep, dramatic tones and subtle texture that captures the beauty of natural stone[citation:2][citation:4].
