Dark green kitchens are everywhere; dark green worktops are not, because most surfaces cannot deliver the colour without the fingerprints. Verde Comodoro can - a solid 12mm board with an anti-fingerprint, self-healing matt surface.
Marks iron out. Lay damp kitchen paper over a superficial micro-scratch on Verde Comodoro, press an iron at 120 C for no more than 30 seconds and wipe dry - the mark is gone. FENIX report the surface still repairing after 100 cycles.
Verde Comodoro is FENIX NTM decor 0750, a deep forest green solid 12mm compact laminate worktop made by Arpa Industriale. It is anti-fingerprint and soft to the touch, non-porous and chemical resistant, heals superficial micro-scratches under a 120 C iron and is rated to 160 C dry heat. GBP 431 for a 3m x 645mm board, 10-year guarantee.
Verde Comodoro is a deep, blue-leaning forest green - the colour of a shaded pine rather than a lime or a sage. The extreme matt finish gives it the depth of a painted panel with none of a painted panel's fragility. It is at its best with pale timber and brass, where the warmth of the wood and metal lifts the green; against white it becomes the anchor of the whole room.
Works with: pale oak and ash, white or cream doors, brass and unlacquered bronze fittings, terracotta or oak floors. Excellent as an island against white; as a full perimeter it suits large, well-lit rooms.

Daily care is warm water and a soft cloth, with washing-up liquid for grease. Do not scrub a dark colour - abrasive creams, scouring pads, steel wool and sandpaper are all excluded by the manufacturer's manual, along with strong acids, strong alkalis and wax-based sprays that leave a film. A melamine sponge, used gently, handles a stubborn mark; the damp-paper-and-iron method handles a micro-scratch.
Is it any good? Verde Comodoro gives you the dark-green kitchen the magazines show without the compromise those kitchens usually hide - a worktop in a different, safer material. It is non-porous, dry-heat rated to 160 C, anti-fingerprint and self-healing on surface marks. Its limits are the standard ones: a 12mm solid board needs a supporting frame, and chips do not repair.
A deep forest green with a slight blue lean, in FENIX's extreme matt finish. Verde Kitami is the paler, softer sage green in the range if you want something lighter.
Not on FENIX. Anti-fingerprint is one of the eight properties Arpa Industriale define the material by, which is exactly why a dark matt colour works as a worktop here when it would not in laminate or gloss.
