Black surfaces usually trade looks for fingerprints and smears. Nero Ingo's nanotech surface is anti-fingerprint by construction, so a matt black kitchen stays matt black after breakfast.
Marks iron out. Lay damp kitchen paper over a superficial micro-scratch, press an iron at 120 C for no more than 30 seconds, wipe dry. FENIX state this still works after 100 repairs - it is the reason a black worktop can stay looking new.
Nero Ingo is FENIX NTM decor 0720: a solid 12mm compact laminate worktop in ultra-matt black, made by Arpa Industriale. The surface is anti-fingerprint and soft to the touch, superficial micro-scratches iron out with a damp cloth at 120 C, and it takes dry heat to 160 C. A 3m x 645mm board is GBP 431 with a 10-year guarantee.
Nero Ingo is a true black with no brown or blue cast, and because the surface reflects almost no light it reads as a flat, velvety plane rather than a glossy slab. Against white or pale timber cabinets it draws the line a kitchen needs; run it with black handleless doors and the room becomes one continuous dark surface, which is where the anti-fingerprint finish earns its keep. A brass or copper tap sits well on it.
Works with: white shaker or handleless doors, oak or walnut cabinetry, black-on-black handleless schemes. Pair with a 645mm worktop run and the 900mm breakfast bar for an island, or the 1200mm island slab for a single-piece centrepiece.

Day to day, warm water and a soft cloth are all Nero Ingo needs; a drop of washing-up liquid for grease. Skip cream cleaners and scourers - the manual is explicit that abrasives, steel wool and sandpaper will mark the surface - and avoid strongly acidic or alkaline products and wax-based sprays, which leave a film that holds dirt. Hot pans straight from the hob are within the 160 C dry-heat rating, but a trivet is still the habit that keeps a worktop perfect for ten years.
Is FENIX any good? For a black kitchen it is the strongest case there is. Black laminate shows every fingerprint and black granite shows every smear; Nero Ingo shows neither, and a micro-scratch that would be permanent on a painted or lacquered surface irons out. The honest limits: it is a 12mm slab, so it needs a supporting frame rather than sitting unsupported on wide spans, and deep gouges or chips do not heal - the thermal repair is for superficial marks only.
No - that is the point of the material. The surface uses nanotechnology and acrylic resins cured by electron beam, and Arpa Industriale list anti-fingerprint as one of its eight defining properties. Nero Ingo stays matt black after handling, which black laminate and gloss surfaces never do.
Superficial micro-scratches: lay a damp piece of kitchen paper over the mark, place an iron at 120 C on the paper for no more than 30 seconds, then wipe dry with a microfibre cloth. FENIX report the surface still repairs after 100 cycles. Deeper scratches and chips are not repairable this way.
Solid. The whole 12mm board is FENIX NTM through its core, so a cut edge is the same material as the top. Bonded FENIX is a thin FENIX skin on a chipboard substrate, usually 39mm thick, and carries a shorter guarantee - we sell the solid board only.
Rated to 160 C dry heat, which covers a hot pan set down briefly. It is not designed to take a pan straight off a gas ring for long periods - use a trivet as you would with any premium surface.
Yes. FENIX NTM cuts with standard carbide tooling and takes undermount and Belfast sinks; the fabrication manual recommends carbide-tipped bits and a fine sandpaper finish on cut edges. Order full boards and have your fitter cut on site, or ask us about cut-to-size.
