Light grey is the safest colour in kitchen design and usually the dullest. Grigio Efeso's depth of matt gives it presence - a soft, stone-like plane that works with warm and cool schemes alike.
Self-healing surface. A superficial micro-scratch on Grigio Efeso disappears under damp kitchen paper and an iron at 120 C held for up to 30 seconds - wipe dry and it is gone. Deep chips are not repairable; the technique is for surface marks.
Grigio Efeso is FENIX NTM decor 0725, the lighter of the two FENIX greys: a solid 12mm ultra-matt compact laminate worktop from Arpa Industriale. It is anti-fingerprint and soft-touch, repairs superficial micro-scratches with a 120 C iron, resists household chemicals and takes 160 C dry heat. GBP 431 for a 3m x 645mm board, guaranteed 10 years.
Grigio Efeso sits between white and mid-grey - a warm, slightly stony light grey that never looks cold. It is the decor to choose when you want the practicality of grey without a dark kitchen: it lifts oak, softens white, and lets a coloured door carry the room. Under warm lighting it leans towards taupe; in daylight it reads as pale concrete without the porosity.
Works with: sage, olive and dusty blue doors, natural oak, white handleless runs, brushed steel or chrome fittings. A good island colour when the perimeter is white.

Grey is forgiving, and Grigio Efeso needs only a damp cloth and, for grease, a spot of washing-up liquid. Keep abrasives away - cream cleaners, scourers, steel wool and sandpaper all mark the surface according to the fabrication manual - and do not leave strong acids or alkalis standing on it. Wax-based polishes are counterproductive: they leave a film the dense surface then holds dirt in. A melamine sponge, used lightly, shifts anything stubborn.
Is it any good? Grigio Efeso is the decor we would put in a rental or a family kitchen without a second thought: the colour hides crumbs and water spots, the surface hides fingerprints, and micro-scratches iron out. Two honest caveats apply to every solid 12mm FENIX board - it needs proper support beneath it, and a real gouge is permanent.
Grigio Efeso. It is the pale, warm grey of the two; Grigio Bromo is deeper and cooler. Both are the same solid 12mm FENIX NTM with the same ultra-matt, anti-fingerprint surface.
Over 60 percent paper and 30 to 40 percent thermosetting resins, pressed under heat at more than 7 MPa into a dense, non-porous board. The decorative surface is treated with next-generation acrylic resins and fixed by electron beam curing - that nano layer is what gives it the matt finish, the fingerprint resistance and the thermal healing.
Damp cloth, warm water, washing-up liquid for grease. Avoid abrasive creams and pads, steel wool, strong acids or alkalis and wax-based sprays.
It is rated to 160 C dry heat, so a hot pan set down briefly is fine. For a pan straight off a high flame, use a trivet - the same advice as for quartz or Corian.
