A red worktop is a statement, and statements get handled. Rosso Askja's anti-fingerprint nano surface and self-healing finish mean the boldest FENIX decor is also one of the easiest to keep looking new.
Solid colour, self-healing surface. Rosso Askja is the same red on every cut edge, and a superficial micro-scratch heals under damp kitchen paper with an iron at 120 C for up to 30 seconds. Chips do not repair - the technique is for surface marks.
Rosso Askja is FENIX NTM decor 0770, a deep matt red solid 12mm compact laminate worktop from Arpa Industriale. The colour runs through the whole board, the surface is anti-fingerprint and soft-touch, superficial micro-scratches iron out at 120 C, and it resists household chemicals and dry heat to 160 C. GBP 431 for 3m x 645mm, guaranteed 10 years.
Rosso Askja is a deep, matt oxblood red - not a fire-engine red - with the light-absorbing finish that makes it read as pigment rather than plastic. It wants a calm setting: white, pale grey or black doors, plain white walls, matt black or brass fittings. Used as an island or a single feature run it turns an ordinary kitchen into a designed one; used everywhere it overwhelms, so plan it as the accent.

Red shows dust less than you would think and fingerprints not at all. Clean with warm water and a soft cloth; washing-up liquid for grease. Follow the manufacturer's exclusions - no abrasive creams, scourers, steel wool or sandpaper, no strong acids or alkalis, no wax-based sprays. Stubborn marks yield to a melamine foam sponge used gently, and micro-scratches to the damp paper and 120 C iron method.
Any good? If you want colour, Rosso Askja is the safest way to have it: the red is solid through 12mm so an edge never shows a different core, the surface is non-porous so it does not stain or absorb, and micro-scratches repair. The honest limits: it is a bold choice that needs the rest of the kitchen kept quiet, it needs a supporting frame like every 12mm board, and chips are permanent.
Dark - a deep oxblood with the extreme matt finish of every FENIX decor, so it reads as a rich colour rather than a shiny one. In photographs it can look brighter than in the room; order a sample if you are undecided.
