Electric Heating

A pre-filled rail is filled with thermal fluid and supplied with its element, so it warms like a normal radiator and arrives plug-and-play. A dry rail has a built-in element and no fluid, so it heats faster and runs a little hotter to the touch. Dry rails are hardwired; pre-filled ones need only a socket.

Pre-filled rails and the elements and controls come with a UK 3-pin plug fitted, so yes. Dry rails do not. They have no plug and must be hardwired to a fused spur — installing one to a socket is not permitted under UK wiring regulations for bathrooms. If in doubt, have an electrician terminate it.

Elements are stocked from 150W to 900W — 150, 200, 250, 300, 400, 600, 800 and 900 — in chrome, black, anthracite and brushed brass. Match the wattage to the rail's own output, which is printed on every listing. Undersizing leaves the top bars cool; oversizing wastes electricity rather than heating faster.

Yes. The Touch thermostatic element has a built-in thermostat and a 5 hour auto-off timer. The Weekly control unit adds a 7 day programmable schedule, so the rail comes on before you shower and off again afterwards. Both are IP44 rated for bathroom use.

Yes, with a dual fuel T-piece and an element. The T-piece lets the rail run off the central heating in winter and off the element alone in summer, so towels still dry when the boiler is off. T-pieces are stocked in anthracite, brushed brass, chrome and white.
