When to use: Pipework rises vertically from the floor at either end and connects to the bottom tappings. This is the most common UK installation for horizontal radiators.
When to use: Pipework comes straight up through the floor directly into the bottom tapping at either end of the radiator.

A single panel does heat up marginally more slowly than a double due to less surface area, however the difference is minimal in normal use. The single panel also cools more quickly when the heating turns off, which can be an advantage in rooms with independent TRV control.
