Valves are not included and must be purchased separately. Select your pipework configuration below to see the correct valve type and compatible Kartell products.
When to use: Pipework rises vertically from the floor and connects to the side connections of the radiator.
This is the most common configuration in UK homes. The valve bends 90 degrees to connect floor-rising pipework to the side tapping.
Pipe size: 1/2" BSP side tappings. Use standard 15mm angled valves. A 10mm option is available with reducer included.
TRV clearance: Allow 45mm from pipe centre to radiator tapping for the thermostatic head.
When to use: Pipework rises vertically from the floor and connects directly to the bottom tappings of the radiator.
Used where the pipework exits the floor directly beneath the radiator body and the valve connects in a straight vertical line without turning.
Pipe size: 1/2" BSP bottom tappings. Standard 15mm straight valves.
Less common than angled but frequently used in newer properties and installations where bottom connections have been specified.
Call our heating experts on 01282 429061 for help selecting the correct straight valve for your installation.
When to use: Pipework comes horizontally out of the wall and connects to the side tappings of the radiator.
Used where pipes exit through the wall rather than up through the floor. The corner valve redirects the wall-exit pipe to the radiator side tapping.
Pipe size: 1/2" BSP side tappings. Standard 15mm corner valves.
Common in apartments, first-floor rooms and properties where pipework runs through wall chases.

Type 11 refers to a single panel single convector radiator — also called a K1 or SPSC. It has one front steel panel and one row of convector fins on the rear. It is the slimmest compact radiator type and the most widely used in UK central heating systems. Type 21 has two panels and one convector row, and Type 22 has two panels and two rows of convectors — producing significantly more heat from the same wall footprint.
This radiator produces 4,152 BTU (1,217W). Delta T60 is the standard European test temperature used for BS EN 442 certification — it means the mean water temperature inside the radiator is 60°C above the room air temperature. This is the industry-standard method for comparing radiator outputs fairly. All Kartell K-Rad BTU figures are independently tested and certified at Delta T60 — they are not estimated or inflated.
At 4,152 BTU, this radiator is suitable for rooms up to approximately 10–12 square metres in a well-insulated modern property — a typical hallway, single bedroom, home office or utility room. For older or poorly insulated properties, allow for 8–10 square metres effective coverage. Use the Sizing and BTU tab on this page for a precise calculation based on your specific room.
Valves are not included and must be purchased separately. The correct type depends on your pipework configuration:
Angled valves — pipework rises from the floor to the side connections (most common in UK homes).
Straight valves — pipework rises from the floor to the bottom connections.
Corner valves — pipework comes out of the wall to the side connections.
This radiator has 1/2" BSP tappings and works with standard 15mm valves. See the Valves tab on this page for all compatible Kartell products and pricing, or call 01282 429061 if you are unsure.
Yes. This radiator is supplied with wall mounting brackets (4 fixing points), fixing bolts, wall plugs, an automatic air vent and a nickel-plated blanking plug. The top grille and side closure panels are factory-fitted before despatch. Radiator valves are sold separately.
Yes. The Kartell K-Rad Kompact Type 11 is fully compatible with all standard UK central heating systems including combi boilers, system boilers and sealed systems. It operates at a maximum pressure of 10 bar and a maximum operating temperature of 120°C. It is also suitable for use with heat pump systems subject to flow temperature compatibility — check with your heat pump engineer.
The Kartell K-Rad Kompact Type 11 comes with a 10-year manufacturer guarantee from the date of purchase, covering manufacturing defects. To activate the guarantee you must register at kartelluk.com after installation. The guarantee does not cover damage caused by incorrect installation, system contamination or modifications to the radiator.
A Type 11 (K1) has one front panel and one row of convector fins — it is the slimmest option at approximately 56mm deep. A Type 22 (K2) has two front panels and two rows of convector fins — it is deeper at approximately 100mm but produces significantly more heat from the same wall footprint. The Kartell K-Rad Type 22 in 600x1000mm produces approximately 7,370 BTU compared to 4,152 BTU for this Type 11. View the Type 22 range at PlumbXtra.
Yes — it is strongly recommended to add an approved central heating corrosion inhibitor to your system when installing any new radiator. This protects the radiator and other system components from corrosion. The system water pH level should be maintained between 6.5 and 7.5. Failure to use an inhibitor can void the manufacturer guarantee. Your heating engineer will advise on the correct product and dosage for your system volume.
Turn off the central heating and allow the radiator to cool completely. Insert a radiator bleed key into the bleed valve at the top corner and turn anticlockwise by half a turn. Air will escape with a hissing sound. When water begins to drip steadily, close the valve clockwise — do not overtighten. Check the system pressure gauge and repressurise using the filling loop if necessary. If the radiator remains cold at the top after bleeding, there may be a circulation or balancing issue — contact a heating engineer.
Standard compact panel radiators are manufactured in set widths — 600x950mm and 600x1050mm are not standard sizes. The closest available sizes are the 600x900mm (3,736 BTU) and this 600x1000mm (4,152 BTU). In most cases, choosing the next size up is the better approach to ensure adequate heat output. Use the BTU Calculator in the Sizing and BTU tab to confirm the best choice for your room.
